Guernsey

Guernsey – officially the ‘Bailiwick of Guernsey’ – lies in the English Channel, off the coast of Normandy and approximately 70 miles from the South coast of England. A British Crown dependency, the Bailiwick of Guernsey includes not only the main island of Guernsey but also the islands of Herm, Jethou, Lihou, Alderney and Sark. Along with the Bailiwick of Jersey the islands are known as the Channel Islands.

With a population of approximately 63,000, Guernsey boasts stunning scenery, the best of contemporary living and a unique mix of French and English elegance. The island’s relationship with the sea is ever apparent, and often seen reflected in the architectural style. The Island’s capital, St Peter Port, is the jewel in the crown of the Bailiwick and offers visitors and locals access to both UK high street brands and local, smaller retailers.

VAT is not levied in Guernsey, making the business of shopping an enticing pastime, or you may wish to simply enjoy the fabulous food available at many al-fresco eateries and cafes and watch the world go by.
